The SFC will also expand the types of funds to which the simplified rules apply, provided that these funds have appropriate safeguards and can create significant benefits for the Hong Kong market. Ms. Choi Fung-yee, Executive Director of the Investment Products Division of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, said: "Further streamlining of the rules applicable to linked ETFs will save costs and provide flexibility for ETF issuers and broaden investors 'investment options while ensuring that appropriate levels of investor protection are maintained. This move will also enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness in attracting overseas ETFs and consolidate its position as a hub of excellence in asset management."
